Customer Success Story

How UltraTech International’s Sales Team Gets Sage ERP Data Inside Salesforce with Commercient

UltraTech International is a distributor that manages inventory across multiple warehouses and relies on its Sage ERP system to run financials and operations. The company's sales team works out of Salesforce to manage customer relationships and quoting.

Second Nature
How deeply Sage and Salesforce data now runs through UltraTech's day-to-day operations
Game Changer
Having Sage financial data accessible to everyone in Salesforce, not just accounting

Challenge

Before syncing their systems, UltraTech's sales team had no independent visibility into the financial and inventory data sitting in their Sage ERP. Anyone who needed a report, whether it was current stock levels or account financials, had to go through accounting or finance and wait for someone to pull it manually from the ERP. Without that data reflected in Salesforce, the sales team also had no easy way to see what inventory existed or where it was concentrated across UltraTech's warehouses.

Solution

Commercient's SYNC connects UltraTech's Sage ERP to Salesforce, running continuously in the background so financial and inventory data from Sage is available to the whole team inside Salesforce, not just accounting. Reps can see stock levels and get a sense of where inventory is concentrated across UltraTech's warehouses, such as its West Coast location, so they know where to focus sales efforts, and anyone can pull financial data straight from Salesforce instead of requesting a report from the ERP team.

Commercient is still just chugging along in the background sync for us. We hardly have to think about it, which is really nice.

Results

After years of running SYNC, it has become so embedded in UltraTech's operations that Luke describes it as blending into the background rather than something the team actively thinks about. Having Sage's financial data inside Salesforce is something Luke calls a game changer, and it's a differentiator UltraTech notices when talking to other Salesforce users, who are often surprised that UltraTech has that level of reporting without looping in accounting every time. On the inventory side, sales reps use the synced stock data to get a general read on where inventory is concentrated across warehouses to guide where they push sales, though UltraTech has learned that its highest-volume, fastest-moving items can occasionally sell out within the sync's five-to-fifteen-minute real-time window, something the team now watches for on those specific products.

Getting that data from Sage and having it be accessible for everybody, it really has been a game changer.
